Barefoot Science
Barefoot Science®
Therapeutic Non-Orthotic Foot Training Systems
Barefoot Science Therapeutic In Shoe Rehabilitation Kit is designed for individuals rebuilding foot function after injury, chronic pain, or long-standing movement limitations. The system uses controlled, progressive stimulation to reintroduce sensory input, muscle activation, and coordination—without rigid correction or aggressive loading.
This is a rehabilitation-first approach that allows the body to adapt safely and intelligently over time.
Our Barefoot Science® Therapeutic Model
— Gradually Reintroduces Function
Best for:
- Injury recovery
- Chronic foot, ankle, knee, or lower-chain pain
- Reduced tolerance to load or stimulation
- Early-stage functional restoration
Therapeutic models start with lower levels of stimulation, allowing the nervous system and foot musculature to re-engage gradually. This model is ideal when pain, instability, or compensation patterns are present and progression must be carefully managed.
Full-Length vs. ¾-Length Systems
(How to choose the right fit for your shoes)
Full-Length Systems
How they’re worn:
- Remove the shoe’s existing insole
- Replace it with the Barefoot Science system
Best for:
- Athletic shoes and trainers
- Walking shoes
- Shoes with removable factory insoles
- All-day wear and consistent use
Full-length systems provide full-foot contact, offering the most consistent engagement and comfort. This option is typically preferred during rehabilitation and for longer periods of daily wear.
¾-Length Systems
How they’re worn:
- Leave the shoe’s existing insole in place
- Insert the ¾-length system on top
Best for:
- Shoes where the insole cannot be removed
- Dress shoes
- Vans, Converse, casual sneakers
- Tight-fitting or low-profile footwear
¾-length systems allow Barefoot Science to be used in footwear that does not accommodate full-length inserts. They provide effective midfoot and heel engagement while preserving fit and comfort.
Progressive by Design
Barefoot Science systems are non-orthotic. They do not force alignment or hold the foot in place. Instead, they allow the foot to respond, adapt, and strengthen through controlled progression.
The system changes as your feet change.
